FInally some pictures...

It ended up being a super long day. We did not get Anya until the end of the day. I am up and the lights are out. She is asleep. To say the least, we are alarmed by the looks of her feet. Yes, that is her dermatitus. If anyone has any experience with how to care for this, please let me know. We are in a foreign country, so it is hard to get our hands on things easily. The doctor only gave us some iodine and some type of pill (an antibiotic) that we were scared to give her. Leaving the orphanage was rushed and the head doctor told us to come back Monday if we wanted to talk to her. She does not seem to be in any pain. Here are the pictures. The bad ones are first. It is hard to move the pictures around.

This is the dermatitus. Those are scabs.

Leaving the orphanage forever!!!!

I will post more tomorrow. The day has gotten aways from us and I better get some rest.

Thanks for checking on us and please put her dermatitus in your prayers. We will take her to the doctor as soon as we get home, but I don't want it to get worse before we get to the states.

  1. OUCH! That looks awful! Is the color of it from the iodine? For the antibiotic...I'd be nervous to give it to her too, but I'd be nervous not to! If that is infected AND they've had already started her on the antibiotic int he hospital and you abruptly stop it now it could allow the bacteria (or whatever they're treating there) to come back even worse...thats why they say never stop in the middle of an antibiotic even if you're feeling better....you're in a tough situation with what to do. And what an odd place for the dermatitis to be! Hope you figure something out, I'll say a prayer!

  2. She is one pretty little girl. We will be praying for her to get better and for you guys to have the wisdom to know how to take care of it. Again she is just precious

  3. I was a pediatric nurse and can tell you that it looks worse than it probably is. It looks like a mixture of iodine and dried blood. If you can put her in a tub of warm water or at least soak her feet in a basin on warm water, I think you'll be surprised! Just dry it well afterwards. It's probably very itchy, thus the bleeding from scratching. Otherwise, I'd continue with the antibiotic, at least until after your medical appt. and try to keep her from scratching. Praying that you'll be home soon, with no delays. ~ Jo

  5. From the looks of the pics, the area appears clean. I agree with Jo with regard to antibiotic and cleaning. Would also bandage with a moist gauze followd by a dry one. Its okay if this pulls more of the dead tissue off upon removal. Will pray for continued favor. Jason Spencer

  7. This is Jason..not sure which method of media you are checking most, I also sent a message to you on facebook. If you can get most medicines in Russia like you can in other countries (without a prescription) try to get some Desonide or Desowen cream and put it on there twice a day. If you can't find that, if you can somehow tell the pharmacist you want a mild to moderate potency steroid cream (стероидные крема - via Google Translate). You could also try some Vasoline if you can't get any steroid cream. Put the Vasoline on her skin after you bath and pat her dry, use luke warm water as hot water tends to make this worse.
